Girls and Boys teams, Grades 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and 7 & 8, each group has A and B teams

There will most likely be two practices a week, maybe 3 depending on the coach. Usually at least 1 practice a week is in Trenton, the other practices will depend on gym availability on the island and where your coach can find time slots as we must compete with school ball practices and games. 

Times will also depend on the coach and gym availability. Usually, practices are an hour to an hour and half somewhere between 5pm and 8pm. They do try to get the 3/4 kids in the earlier slots. 

Practices will be up to the coaches to when they start. A lot of the boys play football, we ask that practice does not start until after the last game, which is usually mid to end of October.  

This is considered a travel league, home games will be in Trenton and away games can be from Camden to Lincon, Trenton to Glenburn. Most of the games are on Saturdays with the possibility of a game on Sunday if needed. 

Games for 5/6 & 7/8 will start Nov. 7th/8th last games will be Jan10th. Finals will be the weekend of Jan16th and Jan 23rd. . 

3/4   games start Nov. 14th/15th the last games will be Jan16th/17th. 3/4 does not have finals. 

Basketball sneakers that are for inside use only, black shorts and a water bottle. AYS provides jerseys. As soon as teams are selected there will be a link provided by coaches to order a shooter shirt (long sleeve warm-up shirt) for your child. This is not a requirement. 

Deadline to register with AYS is Oct 17th 2026 as we must have our teams registered by 20th of October in order to get in the bracket for games.  Tryouts will be on Sunday Oct 11th 2026 in Trenton, times TBA (keep an eye on the FB and webpage for tryout times) Please try to get your child signed up before Oct 11th so that we have all their information and their names before tryouts. It is very important with new league rules to get your child signed up by deadlines so they don’t miss out, unfortunately AYS does not have any control over these deadlines. 

Tryouts will only be about a half hour, the kids will be asked to run through some simple drills while the coaches watch. After the tryouts the coaches will then split the teams up into  A and B teams for each group. Anyone that cannot make it to tryouts please reach out to Kyle McKim or Alicia Gordius to let them know your child cannot make it that day. 

Sometime in late December, early January there will be an option to register for what we call second session (Tournament Season) this will be all tournament bracket games. Dates, times and locations are all TBD when the time gets closer and what tournaments the coaches/teams decide to register for. AYS does host a local tournament weekend for the David Gray Memorial Tournament, that is usually held in February.
